Un hotel de cuento

   Últimamente voy a muchos sitios como éste. Lugares que te llevan a otros mundos llenos de color y fantasía, donde parece que los sueños se cumplen, donde dejas tus preocupaciones, disfrutas de lo que te rodea e imaginas historias de cuento en las que puedes ser protagonista.

   El Hotel Mondrian de Nueva York, situado en el Soho con la frontera de Chinatown, tiene un estilo muy particular que me atrevería a llamar el Rococó de siglo XXI. Un estilo romántico, refinado y sensual, con colores luminosos y suaves, inspirado en la naturaleza y basado en la mitología, donde los muebles parecen animados y da la impresión de que en cualquier momento el reposapiés saldrá corriendo o te hablará la tetera. Y no son de extrañar todas las sensaciones que te aporta el espacio cuando sabes que Benjamín Noriega-Ortiz, el diseñador del hotel, para crear este lugrar se inspiró en la película francesa "La Belle et la bete" de Jean Cocteau, pero en mi opinión con el colorido de la de Disney.

   Entrar por un pasadizo de hiedras, desayunar en un invernadero, recorrer pasillos totalmente azules, acudir a varios restaurantes para un gran festín, despertar con la ciudad de Nueva York a tus pies... Historias de ensueño, cosas que pasan en los cuentos.

   En el exterior, el edificio tiene una fachada de ventanas que van de arriba a abajo creando una gran cuadrícula, y al ser una de las construcciones más altas de la zona, ya que en el Soho no suelen superar las 6 alturas, ofrecen a sus huéspedes una de las mejores vistas de la ciudad desde dentro. En el interior los ambientes están perfectamente cuidados, con una extrarordinaria combinación de colores y una iluminación espléndida. Seguir la inspiración hasta el más mínimo de los detalles y razonar cada particularidad del espacio, hacen posible conseguir obras tan sensacionales como ésta. 

  Cuando voy a estos lugares, mis historias de cuento imaginarias tratan sobre cómo hacer espacios como éste en las que yo soy la diseñadora protagonista...

    Lately, I’ve been going to many places like this one. Places that take you to other worlds full of color and fantasy, where it seems that our dreams can come true and you don’t have any worries, enjoying the environment and imagining fairly tales in which you are the protagonist.

   The Mondrian Hotel in New York, placed between Soho and Chinatown, has a very particular style that I would dare call “Rococo of the 21st century”. A romantic, refined and sensual style, with luminous and soft colors, inspired by the nature and based on the mythology, where the furniture seems to be alive.

And these sensations are not of surprising when you know that Benjamin Noriega-Ortiz, the designer of the hotel, created this place inspired by the French movie 'The Beauty and the Beast' from Jean Cocteau, but in my opinion with the colors of the one from Disney.

   Entering through an alley of ivies, having breakfast in a greenhouse, walking across totally blue corridors, having feasts in several restaurants, awakening with New York below you... Dream stories, things that could only happen in a tale.

      In the exterior, the building has a front of windows that go from the top to the bottom creating a great squared pattern, and it is one of the highest constructions of the area, because in Soho there are not many buildings with more than 6 floors. So the Mondrian Soho offers one of the better views of the city to its guests. In the interior the environments are perfectly elegant, with an extraordinary combination of colors and a splendid lighting. Obtaining works as sensational as this one is only possible by following the inspiration up to the smallest details. 

    When I go to these places, my imaginary tales are about spaces like this one where I am the protagonist designer.
